Northern Shoveler Anas clypeata breeds across much of the northern Holarctic and, in the Western Hemisphere, winters in southern North America, the West Indies, Central America and north-west South America. In mainland Ecuador there were six records in 1988–2012, in prov. Santa Elena and Manabí.
