Los autores, Jeff Lemire y Dustin Nguyen, han conseguido darle un nuevo giro a las constantes de este género, sin renunciar a algunos de los temas centrales de la narrativa fantacientífica. El primer libro de la serie se llama Estrellas de hojalata y narra la historia de Tim, un androide con aspecto de niño que despierta en una colonia minera situada en el planeta Dirishu 6. Tim ha permanecido una década desconectado y cuando vuelve a activarse se encuentra con que todos los habitantes del lugar han muerto tiempo atrás. ¿Qué ocurrió mientras él “dormía”? ¿Por qué no hay nadie? Sus indagaciones lo llevan a descubrir que una terrible masacre ha diezmado a los seres humanos.
