Title Indentificación molecular de Hongos Micorrízicos Arbusculares (HMA) asociados a Cinchona pubescens (Rubiaceae):
260 ## - PUBLICATION, DISTRIBUTION, ETC. (IMPRINT)
Date of publication, distribution, etc. 2013
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Chinchona pubescens, an introduced plant in the Santa Cruz Island (Galápagos), has become an aggressive invader, displacing native plant species. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (HMA) establish simbiosis relationships with most arbuscular plants, favoring them in the absorption of nutrients, and these could be a key factor in the adaptation and development of Chinchona in Galapagos. Through delimitation of species using molecular techniques we investigated the diversity of AMF in C. pubescens and its posible connection in the invasión of this plant in the island. On the basis of sequence similarity, with a threshold of 97% we obtained 9 OTUs and whith a threshold of 99% we obtained 18 OTUs. All OTUs were distributed among Glomerales and Diversisporales orders. Three OTUs were very frequent, other more rare and some different to those published in GenBank, which could be determining the success of propagation of C. pubescens on the island. Further study of the diversity of AMF of Chinchona in continental Ecuador still needs to be done, as well as other ecological factors to better understand their spread and créate conservation strategies for the plant in its natural hábitat.
